How analytics works
What the Statistics page counts when guests open your menus, how visits and visitors are counted, how fresh the numbers are and how far back you can look.
On this page
Every time a guest opens your guest menu — by scanning a QR code or from a link — their phone reports what they do there: the menu they open, the dishes they look at, what they search for and what they order. Analytics in the sidebar opens the Statistics page, which turns those reports into figures for each of your locations and menus. Nothing needs switching on: counting starts with the first guest who opens a menu.
Every plan. On other plans, the page says Analytics isn't included in your plan.

The Statistics page
- The period: 7 days, 30 days or 90 days, ending today, or Custom range for days of your choice.
- Location narrows every report to one location.
- Menu narrows them to one menu.
- The reports, one tab each — see Read your reports.
- Compare… sets two locations, two menus or two periods side by side.
- Export CSV saves the open report as a spreadsheet.
The page opens on the last 30 days of every location and menu. The period and filters you pick are part of the page's address, so a bookmark or a link you send a colleague opens the same view.
What is counted
| Figure | What it counts |
|---|---|
| Menu opens | Each time a guest opened a menu. A guest who opens the dinner menu and then the drinks menu counts two. |
| Sessions | Visits: one guest's sitting with your menu, from the first tap to the last. A visit ends after 30 minutes without activity; coming back later starts a new one. |
| Unique visitors | The different phones and browsers your guests used over the whole period, each counted once however often it came back. |
| Avg session | The average time between the first and the last thing guests did in a visit. A visit with a single action has no length and is left out. |
| New and Returning | A visitor is returning when their phone was first seen on an earlier day. |
| Dish views | Each time a guest opened a dish to see its details. Scrolling past a dish in the list is not a view. |
| Orders | Each order a guest sent from the menu. On plans without guest ordering, each time a guest showed their list to a waiter. |
Visitors are counted by phone and browser, never by person: a guest on two phones counts twice, and a guest in a private window counts again each time. Treat visitor figures as close estimates; visits and menu opens are exact. A browser that keeps no record of earlier visits still counts as a visit, but never as a visitor.
What analytics never shows is who a guest is. The reports hold counts only — no names, no single visits, and nothing about a device but whether it was a phone, a tablet or a computer. Searches typed by too few guests are hidden too — see Search.
Days are your venue's days
A day runs from midnight to midnight on the location's clock, set by its time zone, whoever looks at the report and wherever they are. A visit counts on the day it started. Hours in the reports are the location's hours too.
What is left out
Search engines, link previews in messengers and other automated visitors are recognised and never counted, so sharing your menu link in a chat doesn't inflate your figures. Your own visits to the guest menu do count, like any guest's.
How fresh the figures are
The reports catch up every five minutes, so a visit shows up a few minutes after it happens. Today is included while it is still going on. Sales are counted from your orders instead, within seconds — see The sales report.
Compared with the period before
Each headline figure shows its change against the period of the same length just before: the last 30 days against the 30 days before them. When that earlier period reaches back past the history your plan keeps, or holds nothing to compare with, no change is shown.
How far back you can look
Your plan sets how many days of analytics history you can look back on — see Limits and usage. Custom range names your earliest available day, and its calendar starts there; Apply range shows the days you picked, Reset returns to the preset periods. If a period reaches further back than your history, the report starts at your earliest available day and says so above the figures, with Extend retention to see the plans. Only what you can see is limited: moving to a plan with a longer history shows the earlier days too.
Before the first guest
Until a guest opens one of your menus, the page shows No guest activity yet, with shortcuts to print your QR codes and to share your menu link. Figures appear a few minutes after the first visit.
