Connect an advertising pixel

Connect Meta, Google, TikTok and other ad and analytics accounts to your guest menus, choose the events they receive and where each one runs.

A pixel is the small piece of an advertising or analytics platform that reports visits to your account there. Connect one, and your guest menus tell it when guests open a page, look at a dish, add it to their order and send the order — so you can see which campaigns bring guests to the table, show ads to people who opened your menu, and build audiences from real visitors.

On Pro and Ultimate. On other plans, the marketing settings offer an upgrade and nothing new can be connected.

Who can do this: Owner, Admin, and Marketing

The platforms you can connect

PlatformKindWhat you enter
Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram)AdvertisingPixel ID
Google Analytics 4AnalyticsMeasurement ID
Google AdsAdvertisingConversion ID and Conversion labels
TikTok PixelAdvertisingPixel ID
Snap PixelAdvertisingPixel ID
Pinterest TagAdvertisingTag ID
Yandex MetricaAnalyticsCounter ID

Only these platforms can be connected: there is no place to paste code of your own. The kind decides what a guest agrees to where they are asked first — see The consent banner.

Connect a platform

  1. Open the marketing settings

Open SettingsMarketing. Each platform has a card saying where it stands.

    1. Where the platform runs: Not connected, On at all locations, on at some of your locations, or Paused when it runs nowhere.
    2. Manage opens a connected platform's settings.
    3. Connect connects a new one.
  2. Enter your account's id

Select Connect on the platform's card. Under Account ids, enter the id from your account on that platform; Where do I find this? opens the platform's help on where it is. To report to several accounts at once — an agency's beside your own, say — select Add another, up to ten.

  3. Choose the events

Under Events, tick what the platform should receive — see The events. The usual ones are ticked for you.

  4. Choose where it runs

On at all locations runs the pixel at every location that has no rule of its own. Under Locations, set a location to On or Off to decide for it alone, or leave it on Follow default — see Run a pixel at some locations only.

  5. Save

Select Save. The card now says where the pixel runs.

  1. On at all locations: the default for locations without a rule of their own.
  2. Account ids: one or several of your accounts on the platform.
  3. Events: what your menus report to it.
  4. Locations: a rule per location.

Google Ads counts a conversion against a conversion action, each with its own label. Under Conversion labels, paste the label of the action that should count each event — usually the sent order. An event without a label still feeds your remarketing lists.

Yandex Metrica goals

Metrica receives each event as a goal. In Metrica, create a JavaScript-event goal for each event you ticked, with the identifier the settings list under the events.

The events

Each platform gets the events in its own terms, so you choose them once, the same way for every platform.

EventSent when a guest
Page viewsopens a page of your guest menu.
Dish openedopens a dish to see its details.
Added to orderadds a dish to their order.
Order summary viewedopens their order to check it.
Order shown to staffsends the order to your staff, or shows their list to a waiter. It carries the order's value and currency: your conversion.
Menu searchsearches the menu. What they typed is never sent.

Taps and the dishes guests only scroll past are never sent.

Run a pixel at some locations only

Each location either follows On at all locations or has a rule of its own: on or off whatever the default says. A location that is on can also have ids of its own: switch on Use different ids here and enter them — for a franchise with its own ad account, say. They then replace the organization's ids there; to report to both, list both.

When only some locations have accounts of their own, leave the organization's ids empty, switch off On at all locations and give those locations their ids.

You can also set one location's rules on its own page: open it from Locations and select its Marketing tab. It lists every platform you connected as it runs there; change At this location and select Save. New platforms are connected in the settings only.

  1. Where the platform stands here: On · organization account, On · own account or Off here.
  2. At this location: Follow default, On or Off.
  3. Use different ids here, with this location's own ids.

Managing pixels can be given for one location alone, through a custom location role that includes it — so a franchisee manages their own venue's pixels and nothing else. See Create a custom role.

Check that it works

Open your guest menu with ?tq_marketing_debug=1 added to its address, then open the browser's console: every event is listed as it is sent, platform by platform. The platforms' own tools, such as Meta Pixel Helper and Google Tag Assistant, work too. Where guests are asked first, accept on the banner before you check.

Change or disconnect a pixel

Select Manage on the platform's card, change what you need and select Save. To remove it, select Disconnect, then Yes, disconnect: the pixel stops at every location.

If your plan stops including marketing pixels, every pixel stops running, while its settings are kept for when you upgrade again. You can still open a platform to disconnect it.
