Add tables and print their codes

Add the tables guests sit at, print each table's QR code, and reissue a code when a printed one goes astray.

Each table at a location has its own QR code. Scanning it opens the location's default menu at that table, so an order, a call for the waiter or a bill request arrives with the table's name. Tables live on the location's Tables tab.

Who can do this: Owner and Admin, and at their location: Location manager

Add tables

  1. Open the Tables tab

Open the location from Locations and go to its Tables tab.

  2. Add one table or a numbered run

Select Add table and give the table a Label — the way your staff call it: "12", "T4" or "Patio 2". A Zone, such as Terrace or Bar, is optional; it shows under the table's name.

To add many at once, select Add numbered run, enter a Prefix if you want one, the numbers From and To, and a zone. The dialog shows the tables it will create — up to 100 in one go.

    1. Add table adds one table.
    2. Add numbered run adds a numbered run at once.
    3. Print all codes prints every table's code.
  3. Put them in order

Drag a table by its grip to change its place in the list. Guests who choose their table from a list see the tables in the same order.

Each label is used once per location, and a location holds up to 500 tables.

  • Every table at once: select Print all codes. You get one code per active table, with its label underneath.
  • One table: select the table's code in the list. The dialog shows where the code leads and offers Download PNG, Download SVG and Print.
  1. The link the code opens: the location's default menu, at this table.
  2. Reissue code replaces the code.
  3. Download PNG, Download SVG and Print give you the code to place on the table.

Table codes are drawn in the same design as the location's other QR codes. A change to the menu never needs a reprint: the code always opens whatever the location serves as its default menu.

Rename a table or take it out of service

Open the table's actions (⋯):

  • Edit changes its label or zone. The code stays the same, so printed codes keep working.
  • Deactivate takes the table out of service: it accepts no orders or calls, has no code, and is left out when you print every code. Activate brings it back, and its printed codes work again.

Replace a code

When a printed code goes missing or is used from outside the venue — a photo shared online, say — reissue it. Open the table's actions (⋯) and select Reissue code, or use the button in the code's dialog.

Every code already printed for that table stops working at once. Guests who scan an old one can't order to the table until you print the new code and put it in place.

Delete a table

Select Delete in the table's actions. The table is removed and its printed codes stop working; this can't be undone. Orders already placed at the table keep its name.

What guests see

A guest who scans a table's code sees the menu with the table's name at the top and, when the location takes them, buttons to call a waiter and ask for the bill — see How guests order from their table. A reissued or deleted code tells them it is no longer valid, and an inactive table's code that it isn't taking requests; both ask them to speak to a member of staff.
