Set up search and link previews

Write the title, description and image that search engines and shared links show for your guest menu, for the organization, a location or a menu.

When someone shares a link to your menu in a messenger or on social media, or finds it in a search engine, they see a title, a short description and an image. You set them once for the organization, and change them for a location or a menu where it needs its own.

What a preview shows

  • The title and description you write, in each of your languages. Where one language is left empty, your default language's text is used.
  • The social image: a picture shown with the link, best at 1200×630 pixels.
  • Your logo as the icon of the browser tab — see Add your logo.

Without text of your own, the title is the location's name, followed by the organization's when they differ, and the description is the location's address.

Where each one applies

Set it inIt applies to
SettingsSEOevery location and menu, and the page that lists your locations
A location's Details tab, Search & socialthat location's venue page and its menus
A menu's SEO & sharing tabthat menu, wherever it is served

The most specific one wins, field by field: a menu's title over its location's, a location's over the organization's. Leave a field empty to use the one above it.

Set the organization's text and image

Who can do this: Owner, Admin, and Marketing

  1. Open SEO

    Open SettingsSEO.

  2. Write the title and description

Under Search & social text, fill in Title and Description for each language, your default language first. Keep the title short and name what makes you worth a visit; the description is a sentence or two.

  3. Add a social image

Under Social image, upload a picture or pick one from your library.

  4. Save

    Select Save changes.

Messengers and social networks keep a preview for a while once a link has been shared, so a change can take time to show there. Search engines show it after they next visit your menu.

Give a location its own

Who can do this: Owner and Admin, and at their location: Location manager

Open the location from Locations. On its Details tab, fill in Search & social, then select Save changes. Its social image is part of your brand: changing it takes the people who can set the organization's.

Give a menu its own

Who can do this: Owner, Admin, Content manager, and Content editor

Open the menu from Menus and go to its SEO & sharing tab. Fill in the title, description or social image this menu needs, then select Save changes. On a published menu, saving publishes the change. Its social image and logo are part of your brand: changing them takes the people who can set the organization's.

The same tab holds the menu's Cover, shown on its card when the venue page lists every menu, and its own Logo — see A logo for one location or one menu.
