See where a product is served

One product can sit in several menus and be served at several locations; its Placements tab shows each one and what is different there.

A product exists once in your catalogue, however many menus show it. A bruschetta can be a starter in the Dinner menu and a bar snack in the Drinks menu: it is the same product in both, so a new photo or a corrected description reaches both menus at once. Which locations serve it follows from the menus they serve — see Locations, menus and the catalogue.

Put a product in another menu

Products are placed in menus in the menu builder: open the menu, add the product to a category and save. The product's own page does not change, and nothing is copied.

The Placements tab

Open the product and select the Placements tab. A product on no menu shows that it is not in any menu yet.

  1. Shown or hidden at this location. Select it to switch.
  2. Can be ordered at this location, or sold out. Select it to switch.
  3. Override opens everything this menu can change about the dish; this menu already has its own price.
  • By location lists every location that serves the product through any of its menus, with the price guests pay there.
  • By menu lists every menu the product is in, with the menu's status, the locations that serve it and the price in that menu. A menu no location serves says Not assigned to a location.

A row marked Overridden has values of its own that replace the catalogue's there: a price, a name, the visibility or the availability. Its price line shows the price guests pay next to the catalogue's.

Change the product for one location or one menu

Who can do this: Owner, Admin, Content manager, and Content editor, and at their location: Location manager

The switches on each row change that place only, and save at once:

  • Visible / Hidden shows or hides the dish there.
  • Available / Unavailable lets guests order it there, or shows it as sold out.

Override opens the same editor as a location's or a menu's own page: a price per currency, availability, visibility, the name and descriptions, and the photo. How overrides work and which one wins: Change dishes for one location, Change dishes for one menu and Inheritance and overrides.

To change the product everywhere instead, edit the product itself — see Add a product.
