What guests see
The guest menu your QR codes open, from the header and dish cards to search, the dietary filter and the order list.
On this page
Guests open your menu by scanning a QR code. It opens in their phone's browser, with nothing to install and no account to create, and shows what you have published, in your colours.
Where a scan leads
A QR code opens a location's venue page or one of the menus it serves — see How QR codes work. The venue page, with your photos, opening hours and every menu of the location, is described in The venue page and the location directory.
The menu opens in your default language, or in the language its QR code was made for. Prices are in the location's currency, and guests can't change it. See Translate a menu and Prices in several currencies.
The menu
- Dietary opens the dietary filter.
- Category chips jump to a category and stay at the top while guests scroll.
- A dish card. Tapping it opens the dish.
The header shows your logo and the location's name; tapping either goes back to the venue page. When the location serves more than one menu, the name of the menu on screen sits under it, and tapping it switches to another — see Choose the menus a location serves. On the right are Search and, when the menu has more than one language, the language button.
When a menu has several groups, such as food and drinks, cards at the top switch between them. Each group's categories follow in your order.
Dish cards
A dish card shows the photo, the name, the start of the description and the price, with the dish's dietary tags, allergens, spiciness and badges. A dish with several sizes shows its lowest price and lists every size. A dish you marked unavailable is greyed out and marked Sold out. A category served only at certain hours shows its hours, and its dishes say when they can be ordered — see Schedule, pause and archive a menu.
What a dish can carry is in Add dietary tags, allergens and nutrition. Card styles, banners and recommended dishes are in Promote dishes on a menu.
A dish
Tapping a card opens the dish: the large photo, the full description, the allergens it contains or may contain traces of, its sizes and add-ons, the portion and nutrition when you set them, and Add to order with the price.
Search
Search opens a search over the menu on screen. Before the guest types, it suggests dishes from across the menu. As they type, it finds dishes by name and description, in the language they are reading.
The dietary filter
Dietary appears when dishes on the menu carry dietary tags or allergens, and offers only the ones they carry:
- Show only keeps the dishes that have every tag the guest picks, such as vegan and gluten-free.
- Hide dishes containing hides dishes with the allergens the guest picks. Also hide “may contain traces” hides the dishes that may contain traces of them too.
While guests filter by allergens, dishes with no allergen information are hidden as well, and the menu says how many dishes the filter hides. The filter is never remembered: a guest who comes back sees every dish.
The language
The language button lists your menu's languages. A guest's choice applies at once and stays for their next visit to any of your locations — see Translate a menu.
The order list
Each dish card has an add button, and the dish has Add to order. What guests add collects in Your order, with a bar at the bottom of the menu showing how many dishes it holds and the total.
- Where the location takes orders from the phone, guests send the order straight to your staff, and guests who scanned a table's code can call a waiter or ask for the bill when you offer it — see Turn on guest ordering.
- Everywhere else, the list is for the waiter. On Your order, guests add their table number and a note, then tap Show to waiter to show the order in large print. Nothing is sent from the phone: your waiter takes the order as usual.
To make the menu for browsing only, open SettingsTaxes & tips and switch off Enable cart & ordering. Guests then see no add buttons.
Table QR branding
At the bottom of every page, guests see a small Table QR mark, unless your plan or an add-on removes it — see Make the guest menu look like your brand.
