Design your QR codes
Choose the colours, shapes and logo of your codes, give a location or a menu a look of its own, and keep saved versions.
On this page
The design decides how your codes look when you download or print them: colours, the shape of the dots and corners, and a logo in the middle. It never changes where a code leads, and codes you already printed keep working whatever you change.
Who can do this: Owner, Admin, Content manager, and Marketing, and at their location: Location manager
One design, inherited
Your organization has one design, the base for every code. A location can have its own design, and so can a menu at one location. A menu without its own design uses its location's; a location without one uses the organization's.
In Design scope, each row says where its look comes from:
- Base — the organization's design.
- Override — a design of its own.
- Inherits — the design of the row above it.
Table codes, printed from a location's Tables tab, use the design of the location's default menu.
Change a design
Open the designer
Open QR codes and switch to Design. On All codes, the Design button next to a location opens that location's design.
Pick what to design
In Design scope, click the organization, a location, or a menu under its location.
Give it a design of its own
A location or a menu that inherits shows its controls locked. Click Override: it gets its own design, starting from the look it had. The organization's design needs no override.
Choose the look
On Basic, start from a Style — Classic, Midnight, Dots, Rounded or Sunset — then adjust Code color, Background, Module shape, Corner shape and Corner colors. A style keeps the logo you chose. Every change is saved as you make it.
Check the preview
The preview draws a real code the design applies to, with the address it opens and, for a design of its own, how many codes use it. Scan it from the screen with your phone.
- Design scope: the organization, its locations and the menus each one serves.
- Where the selected design comes from. Reset hands a location or a menu back the design it inherits.
- Basic and Advanced controls.
- PNG, SVG and PDF download the code in the preview.
To print a particular code — a menu's, or one in a language — download it from the location instead: Print and place your QR codes.
The logo in the middle
Under Logo, choose what sits in the middle of the code:
- None — just the code.
- Brand logo — your organization's logo, or the location's or menu's own logo where it has one. Change the logo once and every code follows — see Make the guest menu look like your brand.
- This code — an image you upload for this design only. It counts towards your image storage.
Size sets how much of the code the logo covers. On Advanced, you set the logo's Opacity, Padding and Pad shape, whether to Clear code behind logo, and the Error correction level: the higher it is, the bigger the logo a code can carry and still scan.
Save and restore versions
Under the designer, Version history keeps the saved versions of the selected design. Save current as version saves the design as it is now, named by the date. Restore brings a saved version back: the codes you download next use it, and codes already printed keep working. A location or a menu that inherits has no versions of its own.
Go back to the inherited design
On a location or a menu with its own design, Reset drops that design, and its codes use the inherited one again. The organization's design cannot be reset.
Reset happens at once, without asking. The design's saved versions and its uploaded logo go with it, and overriding again starts afresh.
