Prices in several currencies
Which currency guests see, how a dish gets a price in each currency, and why a menu cannot be published while a price is missing.
A restaurant group with venues in more than one country prices its menus in more than one currency. Each location shows its guests prices in one currency, and every dish it serves needs a price in it.
Which currency guests see
Your organization's currencies and its default currency are chosen under SettingsLocalization. A location can offer fewer of them and have a default currency of its own, on its Settings tab — see Change a location's settings.
Guests see every price in the default currency of the location they are at. They do not switch currencies themselves.
Give every dish a price in each currency
Who can do this: Owner, Admin, and Content manager
A dish's own price is in your organization's default currency: you set it in the item editor, for each of its sizes — see Add a product.
Prices in your other currencies are set where they apply, with one field per currency:
- for one location, on its Overrides tab, for everything it serves — see Change dishes for one location;
- for one menu, on the menu's Dish changes tab, wherever the menu is served — see Change dishes for one menu.
Add-on options are priced the same way. A price set there replaces only the currencies you fill in; the others keep the dish's own price. The same fields let a menu charge a different price in your default currency too — lower drink prices on a happy-hour menu, for example.
A menu cannot be published, approved or scheduled while one of its dishes has no price in a currency of a location that serves it. Add the missing price, then publish again — see Publish a menu.
Printed menus
A printed menu shows one currency, chosen for each print. A dish without a price in that currency prints without a price — see Print a menu.
