Create a menu
Add a new menu from the Menus page; it opens in the builder as a draft that guests do not see yet.
A menu arranges dishes from your catalogue into groups and categories. Your organization can have several menus — dinner, drinks, a weekday lunch — and each location serves the ones you choose. How menus, the catalogue and locations fit together is explained in Locations, menus and the catalogue.
Who can do this: Owner, Admin, and Content manager
The Menus page
Menus in the sidebar lists every menu of your organization: how many locations serve it, how many items it has and its status. Search by name or filter by status, and click a menu to open it.
If you set up your organization with the setup wizard, the menu it made for you is already here, and you edit it like any other.
Create a menu
Start a new menu
On the Menus page, click New menu. From anywhere in the dashboard you can also press ⌘K and choose Create menu.
Name it
Type a Menu Name and click Create Menu. Pick a name guests understand: when a location serves several menus, guests switch between them by name. You can rename the menu later in its header.
What you get
The new menu opens in the builder, empty, with the status Draft. Guests do not see a draft, and no location serves it yet.
- The menu's status: a new menu is a draft.
- Add group starts the menu's first group.
From here:
- Build the menu: add groups, categories and dishes.
- Publish it, so guests can see it.
- Choose the locations that serve it on each location's Menus tab — see Choose the menus a location serves.
Your plan sets how many menus your organization can have. When you reach the limit, the Menus page says so and New menu is no longer shown.
Delete a menu
Who can do this: Owner, Admin, and Content manager
In the menu's row on the Menus page, open the actions menu, choose Delete and confirm.
A deleted menu is removed from every location that serves it, and this cannot be undone. To take a menu out of service and keep it, archive it instead.
