The consent banner

When guests are asked before your pixels load, what the banner offers them, what loads after their choice and how long it is remembered.

In some countries the law says a guest must agree before an advertising or analytics platform may track them. Where that applies, your guest menu asks first with a small banner, and no pixel loads until the guest has chosen. Your settings decide where the banner appears; the guest decides what loads.

Who can do this: Owner, Admin, and Marketing

When guests are asked

It depends on your organization's Country, set in SettingsGeneral:

  • In the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, guests are always asked. The banner can't be switched off.
  • Anywhere else, pixels load without asking, unless you switch on Always ask guests first — useful when many of your guests come from those countries. Browsers that send the Global Privacy Control signal never get advertising pixels there.

The Guest consent card at the top of SettingsMarketing says which applies to you.

  1. Always ask guests first. In a country where asking is the law, the switch stays on and can't be changed.

Either way, the banner appears only on the menus of a location where at least one pixel runs. A location's Marketing tab says whether its guests are asked.

What guests see

A compact banner, Cookies on this menu, sits at the bottom of the guest menu. The menu stays readable and usable behind it; nothing about ordering depends on the answer.

What loads, and when

Where guests are asked, nothing from any platform loads before the guest chooses — not even its code. After that, only the platforms of the kinds they allowed load. Where guests aren't asked, the pixels load once the menu has opened.

The choice is kept on the guest's phone for six months, for all your locations, then they are asked again. Cookie settings at the bottom of the guest menu reopens the banner to change it; taking a permission back reloads the page, so the platform's code is gone at once.

The visit counts on your Statistics page don't depend on the banner: they are Table QR's own, and no pixel is involved.
