The sales report

What your venues sold through guest ordering: gross sales, orders, checks and the average check per currency, sales by day and hour, best sellers and how quickly staff answered guests.

The Sales tab of the Statistics page adds up the orders guests and staff place through guest ordering: what they came to, what was paid, what sold best and how quickly your staff answered. It is built from the orders themselves, not from guests' visits, so it is exact and up to date within seconds of an order.

On Pro and Ultimate. On other plans the tab carries a lock and shows what it would tell you.

Who can do this: Owner, Admin, and Finance, and at their location: Location manager and Shift lead

A role that holds this permission at one location only — a location's manager or shift lead — sees the sales of that location and no other; with several such locations, the location filter lists just those. On its own, such a role shows only this tab of the page.

Read the figures

Open Analytics and select Sales. The period and the location above the tabs apply; the menu filter doesn't, because orders aren't counted per menu.

FigureWhat it counts
Gross salesWhat the orders sent to your staff came to, service fee and VAT included, after anything staff took off. Cancelled orders and written-off bills are left out.
TipsWhat guests left as tips on paid bills. Tips are kept apart: they are in neither gross sales nor the average check.
OrdersOrders sent to your staff, neither cancelled nor on a written-off bill.
Paid checksBills paid, each counted on the day of its first order. A joint bill — one guest paying for others — counts once.
Average checkWhat paid bills came to, divided by their number.
Items soldEvery portion sold, counting quantities, less what staff took off.
CancelledOrders cancelled after they were sent, and what they would have come to.
Written offOrders on bills your staff closed unpaid, such as a guest who left without paying, and what they came to.
Time to acceptThe average time from a guest sending an order to someone on staff accepting it. Orders accepted automatically or placed by staff are left out.

Each figure shows its change against the period of the same length just before. Sales are financial records, so your plan's analytics history doesn't shorten them.

One block per currency

Amounts in different currencies are never added together. When your locations sell in more than one currency, each gets a block of its own, your organization's default currency first, and Details in chooses the currency of the cards below.

Days start at 5 a.m.

Sales count business days on the location's clock: a day runs from 5 a.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning, so an order at 1 a.m. belongs to the night before — the same days as the order history.

Below the figures

  • Sales per day — gross sales or orders, day by day; View as numbers lists them with each day's paid checks.
  • Dine-in and pickup — orders and gross sales at the table and for pickup.
  • Orders by hour — the hour each order was placed, in the location's time, with the busiest hour.
  • Best sellers — your ten best-selling dishes by item sales, before service fee and added VAT, with the portions sold.
  • Guest requests — waiter calls, bill requests and orders: how many came in, were done, cancelled or expired, and how long staff took to accept and to finish them.

Sales and the other tabs

The other tabs count what guests do on the menu; this one counts what your staff were asked to make and paid for. Their order figures differ: an order your staff take on a guest's behalf appears here only, and a cancelled order appears in the other tabs but not in gross sales.

Export the orders

Export orders at the top of the page saves the orders behind these figures as a spreadsheet, for the period and location picked: one row per order or one per dish ordered. What each file holds: Find past orders and export them.

Before the first order

Until a location takes an order, the tab shows No orders yet, with a shortcut to the ordering settings — see Turn on guest ordering.
