How guest ordering works
Guests order, call a waiter and ask for the bill from their phone; your staff take it from there, and guests pay at the venue.
On this page
With guest ordering, the menu on a guest's phone becomes the way to order. Guests send their order from the table or for pickup, call a waiter or ask for the bill, and each order and request reaches your staff on the Orders page as soon as it is sent. Guests need no app and no account.
Which plans include it
On Pro and Ultimate. On other plans, guests can still put dishes on a list in the menu and show it to a waiter, who takes the order — see What guests see.
How an order travels
- The guest scans the QR code on their table, and the menu opens at that table.
- They add dishes and send the order — to their table, or for pickup at the counter.
- The order appears on the Orders page. Your staff accept it, or it is accepted automatically, and mark it done once it is served.
- The guest follows the order on their phone, asks for the bill when they are ready, and pays your staff.
Each step from the guest's side is on How guests order from their table; your staff's side is on The Orders page.
Dine-in and pickup
Each location offers one or both ways to get an order:
- Dine-in at a table: every table has its own QR code, so an order arrives with the table's name — see Add tables and print their codes. A guest who opened the menu without a table's code can choose their table from a list, unless you switch that off; your staff confirm the table before the order is made.
- Pickup at the counter: the guest collects the order at the counter. Leaving a name is optional; without one, your staff call the order number.
Paying at the venue
Guests pay your staff, in cash or by card terminal, and your staff record the payment on the Orders page. Guests can't pay online from the menu. How a bill is settled is on Checks and payment.
Calls and bill requests
Without ordering anything, a guest at a table can tap Call a waiter or Ask for the bill, saying whether they will pay in cash or by card. Each request appears on the Orders page beside the orders, and you choose which requests guests can send.
One set of defaults, a choice per location
You set ordering up once for the organization, in SettingsOrdering. Every location follows those defaults unless its own Ordering tab says otherwise — pickup only at a bar, for example.
Set it up
- Turn on guest ordering — the settings and each location's readiness checklist.
- Add tables and print their codes, if guests order at their table.
- Set VAT and the service fee.
- Set up your floor and kitchen staff.
